Open-fire kitchen · Bristol Harbourside
Cooked over embers, eaten slowly
A short menu that changes with the market, a wine list with genuine opinions, and a dining room built for long evenings.
Copper Lantern
Welcome to The Copper Lantern
We opened in a former chandlery on Welsh Back in 2017 with one wood-fired grill and eighteen covers. The grill is still the centre of everything. Almost all of our produce comes from within seventy miles, the menu is rewritten every fortnight, and nothing leaves the pass that the head chef has not looked at.

Our table
Since 2017
The Copper Lantern began in 2017 in a former ship chandlery on Welsh Back, with eighteen covers, one wood grill and a menu written on a chalkboard each morning.
The chalkboard has gone, the grill has not. We still write the menu around what the farms and the day boats actually have, and we still name every supplier on the page.

“The best meal we've eaten in Bristol, and we've eaten a lot of them.”
“They hosted forty of us for our company dinner and made it feel like a private house, not a function room.”
“Sunday lunch here ruined every other Sunday lunch for me. Sincere apologies to my mother.”
